The Apartment Association of South Central WI recognized Dean Loumos, Housing Initiatives’ Executive Director, with the True Team Leader award “for his leadership role and character, championing the need; developing the model; and successfully providing multifamily housing to meet the diverse needs of our housing industry here in our community.”
Dean is only the 3rd person to receive this award in the Association’s history, sharing the honor with Steve Brown and Jay Koritzinsky.
Nancy Jensen, Executive Director of the Apartment Association, said, “We applaud Dean’s ‘roll up your sleeves and make it happen’ style of leadership and admire his successful vision, meeting a much needed demand in our metro housing market.”
During her remarks at the Association Awards Luncheon where Dean was presented the award Nancy explained, “Today we’re awarding individuals setting benchmarks throughout 2015: 75% retention rates, 5% NOI over budget and 99% occupancy. In these great statistics, we saw one more stat demonstrating outstanding accomplishment: 95% of Housing Initiatives’ clients never return to homelessness. That’s a breathtaking success rate! AASCW is proud to have Housing Initiatives as a member of our organization and we’re delighted to honor the valuable leadership role Dean Loumos has contributed to housing here in Madison. One of Housing Initiatives’ clients, a captain fighting for the United States in the Vietnam War, and nearly homeless during his early years living in the US, said ‘Dean is like a brother to me. He pulled me and my family out of a dark hole. I feel very blessed to be part of the Housing Initiatives community.’
We would love to see Housing Initiatives become a template for more housing opportunities throughout Wisconsin for residents suffering from mental illness. We’re also pleased to support Housing Initiatives new capital campaign to acquire additional housing for residents suffering from mental illness.”
In addition to the True Team Leader award, Housing Initiatives was also awarded 2015 Property of the Year for our Beilman House development where Housing Initiatives offices are located.
Thank you to Nancy Jensen and the Apartment Association of South Central Wisconsin for this very special recognition. We are proud to be members and look forward to working with many other members of the Association in the future.
