Kathryn P. Nichol  practiced general pediatrics for 25 years in Madison. Dr. Nichol was awarded the National Safety Council “Woman of the Year Award for her work developing an infant car seat program in the early 1980’s which became a requirement in all hospitals in Wisconsin.

In 1970, she was the first female MD at the Dean, and in the 80’s became the first female Chief of Staff at St. Mary’s Hospital. In 1993, she accepted a position of VP of Medical Affairs at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee where she served for 6 years until she became a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Board of Directors and later joined the board of Housing Initiatives.
